Are you interested in joining a group of talented people
who love to sing?
You've come to the right place! Auditions for the Spring 2025 semester begin January 11, 2025 and are held by appointment.
Choral singing experience and sight-reading skills are a plus but not mandatory if you have a good ear and strong pitch. The chorale is a fun group of people who love making music together.
Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 7:30-10:30 pm in Westlake Village.
What happens at your audition?
- Private auditions are held at United Methodist Church of Westlake Village and last approximately 15 minutes.
- After filling out a brief questionnaire, you will be asked to sing up and down a scale to determine your vocal range.
- You'll also be asked to sing back certain notes played by the choir director to demonstrate your ability to stay on pitch and learn by ear.
- You will be given a short piece of music to sight-read, to demonstrate your ability to read choral music. If you're rusty at this, do not fear.
- Finally, you'll be asked to sing a song of your choosing. You can provide sheet music for the director to accompany you, provide your own recorded accompaniment, or simply sing a cappella. This is your chance to show us your stage presence and showmanship.
Requirements:
- Membership Dues are required to pay for music and other expenses- $35.00 for full time students and $75.00 for non students.
- Concert attire, if you don't already have it, must be purchased as well.
